History or Genealogy

Are we recording history or recording Genealogy?
They are definitely entwined.
I often prefer novels with history entwined. So, it is no wonder, that I appreciate history events in my ancestors lives.

Most of us can not escape the world wars . And those wars in our ancestors countries.

What other historical events did they take part in?
What is an historical event?

Is the Dutch tulip decline an Historical event?.
According to Martha Stewart the beautiful little old tulip caused many a market investors ruin.
Did it affect any of my Readers family history, I wonder?

What other historical events severely effected our family history?

  1. Putting aside the technical aspects of studying history and researching genealogy, I'm inclined to see them as one and the same. Understanding the world and time in which our ancestors lived only enhances our understanding or who they were as people. Thanks for the thoughtful post.

  2. Thanks Laura Ann, It was inspired by Martha Stewart's comment on the tulip. Maybe I should watch her more often instead of the pioneer movies at Halmark!
