More Warnecke 1880 at Oldendorf / Nahrendorf

Well I am getting around to showing you more on what I have for Warnecke; just as I said I would. /It has of course been in the back pages of 2008.
So see here in 1880 the church record of Mary Meyer, who married into the same Nahnsen family that her sister Frieda married also in Calhoun county, Iowa. Frieda was born years later in Calhoun county Iowa. You can see the w hole family here [except for the deceased].



This little part of the church record at Nahrendorf shows the babtism of Marie, child or our Juergen Heinrich Wilhelm Meyer. Notice the name Lyssmann twice. Lysmann in connection with Warnecke. Sorry, I don't know yet the connection nor do I know the family of Wilhelmine Meyer. I was curious too, because there was a family of Lusman, who ran a harness shop at Farnhamville. I noticed that they were too, early members of the Lutheran St. Peters church.

Do you Remember that her older first born sister Anna was named afer the twins of another Juergen Friedrich Meyer, who also worked at Roethen and lived in Oldendorf and was the schulz. ( Schulz probably means mayor.) Until I get more word from the church I don't know enough to even speculate accurately.

I would like to tell you my thoughts at the moment.
This is 1880, a year later after Wilhelms father has passed away; and his mother in 1856, so his father may have remarried. Wilhelm is a hauesler in Oldendorf not a landowner. He knew back in 1869 he wanted to go to Amerika. I am wondering if a stepmother or her children could possibly be a godparent to his children. It's just a thought.

Emigration Applications A Good Genealogy Source

Actually the site http://www.genealogy-sh.com/dithm/s.htm says only ten percent of those leaving this area of Schleswig-Holstein made the application. [ You'll have to forgive me, I can never spell that area of northern Germany. I should write it one hundred times, maybe then I will be able to do so.]

A good portion of the population that I am aware of in Clinton county and at the Dawson township area near Farnhamville were from this region. I happen to have a great cousin Verl Matthews who researched this family Nahnsen all back to Denmark holdings.
Other surnames of interest with the Nahnsen family are Hansen, Namanny, Petersen. The Carstensen family are also from there, who were one of the first group of founders of the St. Peters church of Farnhamville area in Iowa.

There are listings of surnames of Dithmarschen Emigration from Schleswig Holstein unless people left in the night, or for other reasons so they failed to fill the application to request permission to leave Germany. In other, words it's the good list, not the naughty list.

The link I have, happens to be the"SS". It's a good thing to search while watching some boring HDTV or waiting for your water to boil.

I'll be back to share good news about the two Meyer men on Frisia of April 8, 1884 who were on the same ship as Grandpa Willie Meyer.

Genealogy with Lena B. Carstensen and Robert Holm surnames in Greene county Iowa.

It is amazing how one can over look a few little facts. Check out who else was from Jackson county Iowa and belonged to the Farnhamville area St. Peters Luth. church by Webster, Calhoun and Greene county Iowa.

Note: You remember Carstensen was second wife to our J.H. Williams son, Johann [first born ] William Meyer. And I think this is her family. His first wife was A. Grote. And yes J.H. Fred had a William as a son also, but he was born after 1882. And this is the same Carstensen family. Also relation to Nahnsen who did come from Clinton county, Iowa. Most of those from Sch. Holstein germany did come from Clinton county.From the Green biographie book of Greene county, Iowa

On the 7th of March, 1893, Mr. Holm was united in marriage to
Miss Lena B. CARSTENSEN, who was born in Jackson county, Iowa, on the 1st of January, 1873, and is a daughter of Godber and Dorothea (JOCHIMSEN) CARSTENSEN both natives of Germany. [The text is blurred here. The date '1st of January, 1873, and the names may not be spelled correctly.] On emigrating to the new world they became early settlers of Greene county, Iowa, and the father died in Dawson township in 1891, but the mother is still living. The marriage of Mr. and Mrs. Holm has been blessed with five children: George J.; Bertha; John H., who died at the age of four and a half years; Bernard T.; and Theodore J."

My mind is doing a little happy dance. Robert HOLM and CARSTENSEN are not new to me. But I happened to read my notes in my special book and saw that Robert HOLM was in Jackson county Iowa. According to this little clip from the Green book of Green county, Iowa, the CARSTENSEN family was from Jackson county or at least Lena was born there. Years ago, when I began searching Farnhamville, I had read a clipping given me by our special helper Christi Chance about her family's' Carstensen from Clinton county Iowa role as a founding father in the development of St. Peters church in the area of Farnhamville.
I assumed they were from Clinton county and no where else in United States, which one should not do in research

You know of course this will bring more searching action with the name Holm and Carstensen. And of course I will have to check the book and other research areas for more about each name to see what else comes up for the home area of Jackson county. I guess, I will have to locate that article again, and some research by Merna Hansen on St Peters church members to review. Of course, I will share it. [lol]
I have been kind of searching here and there to see a common denominator among family and friends. What brought Fred Meyer from Jackson county to
Greene county.
***What brought Fred Meyer from Jo Daviess county Illinois across the river to Jackson county. And does it have anything to do with a Goose Lake?
** Soon, I should show you a map of Jackson county, Iowa.



Note: Something to think on: Where Fred lived in Jackson county Iowa, where some of his Schenk lived, where he got married at Maquoketa ; all of these places are a great distance apart in Jackson county Iowa. It will be important to know who lived exactly where in 1870 there. Verl Matthews has done a lot of research on the family Nahnsen from Sch. Holstein going way back, which I have not shared here.
I may need to review some of the Nahnsen information at Ancestry.com.

Found the Bell line -- Fairmont, Minnesota

Isn't it funny how you can find some information by chance. It seems like that, but is it really.

I may have explained once about the mystery man in Fairmont, Martin county in Minnesota to many of you. For those of you who have not heard of him, I will tell you. This man was a relative of mine he said. He told me that he had been asked to "keep an eye on me" while I lived there. My father did that. Oh boy what a surprise to me that was. Once I asked about how he was related. Two days for an hour or two he filled me in. He did it with associations. And it worked. It was too much to take in at once like that. I wrote very little down. I do still remember most of the associations. Over time my research brought back memories of what he told me. These associations, I will share later.

Note: I am going to edit this story later. It shall suffice for now.

One association that I will share now is the tie to Nahnsen / Meyer of Iowa. Perhaps even Murray. It is the tree connection to ours that I saw this morning. I may have seen the tree before. But as I browsed the tree the main name that rang a bell was the name BELL. One of those that was mentioned to me. Another surname of importance was the name Sorensen.

I promise to come back and work with this for you as soon as I can. I am sure I can pick up the laptop and share a bit more. At least the website link will be a start. Right?

So at anyrate. Have patience, I will be back to give the information that I learned today. It brings me close to one of my goals. That goal is to find that mystery family in Fairmont.

I may have mentioned this little church record before.
Juergen Friedrich Meyer, schulz of Oldendorf. md on 18 April 1834.
His father is Johann Heinrich Meyer of Sueschendorf.
oo His wife was Marg. Dor. Seil.
Juergen is going to marry Margarethe Dorothea Schroeder born Bausch. She is a widow. From Haswirth Jurgen Heinrich Schroeder.

I have from the village of Oldendorf a Heinrich Seil. born 1859 or 1860. He was married to a Maria Ahrens of Bleckede. She was born 1891. Heinrich Seil on a census A A and B. has his father stated as Frank. It also said what his mothers last name was....Siegel or Seagul or something similar. Seimer?

Heinrich and his sister immigrated ? year and went to New York. While there his sister got lost. So he went on to Iowa. Many years later she is found. She had married Ritterling or Rittling of Fort Laramie Wyoming. that Family ties to the family at Eichdorf. I found it at Aida.

Heinrich Dohrmann married at Hamburg with Dorothea Seil. They settled at Joliet , Will county, Illinois.
