Castle Garden Immigration source results for Hch. Frd.Herrman Meyer

Our Ancestors passed through many ports. In this case it is the Castle Garden port that holds the records of our Meyer's Immigration. *You can find the lists at many sources. I looked in more than one source for these manifest numbers. Because Grandfather kept saying he had a brother Louis. Or at least I thought he said that. I will never know what Louis he was refereing too, because none have show up in my research* [ edited this in ]

The Manifest No. if the ships passage on the  1884 Immigration Passenger  ship Frisia was # 37694.I have said over and over that Juergen Heinrich Wilhelm Meyer and his wife Maria Dorothea Heins left Oldendorf, bei Nahrendorf for Hamburg in February.  [ According to a letter written by Anna Meyer Bennett]  From there they went to New York. There arrival is stated as April 8, 1884. They traveled with Dagevor or Dagefor. [ Dagefoerde ] which are relation on the maternal Heins side of the family.



Note: Barr with me, I always mix April 6 with April 8, so correct me, if I make the error. The answer to when they left is to be found in the Hamburg Passenger lists.

Now we see the whole entire bottom half of the church seal document.  I know I know it needs to be rescanned and I  need to ditch the pink and yellow.

Yesterday, I posted a simile of the church seal. So today I deleted it. I was wrong there were only two words on the church seil, which are Kirohensiegel and Nahrendorf. Not siegel der kirchengemeinde Nahrendorf.... as I thought it had been. Nor was it a red brown color. I suppose the error will be out there forever. That will teach me, won't it. We do learn from our errors. I should be well educated by now!

Now we saw the bottom main body of the letter. With out the cut off on the right side. We should be able to read it much better.

Document of the Traveling Papers of Herman Meyer

At the top of this Document you will see the name Herman H. Meyer written in pencil. It is funny that though he was actually Hch. Frd. Hermann, He was always known as Herman H.Meyer. [I did notice that when he got married he used the correct name.] I have wondered how many copies of this document they had. I suppose each child had his own. Eighteen eighty one is his birth year. [ we originally thought it was 1883.]
I wonder whose handwriting that is in pencil.

~ Family history- Catharina Margarthea Luhmann's Sisters from Eichdorf ~

I received some records from researcher Friedrich Burmester of Bleckede several years back. I was given it as a reduced rate before his busy season began. I had asked for verification of each of our Cathrina Margaretha Luhmann Meyer sisters. Now bear in mind that they were hand written in German old style. Some words are still not clear to me. Perhaps some day, I can find a willing reader to tell me what it says, if I can get around to scanning the documents. I need to find original letter to double check what I have here. My info is not correlating to another I found.

It was up to me to see if they belonged with my records or not. I am not sure if they all do. Just in case something else pops up it is nice to have.

Note: Doroth. Magdalene Luhmann geb.15 ap.1829. Married: oo 26.Dec.1850. She had already been married about 6 years. I am sure she had more children. Or Friederich Burmester would have seen more deaths. Though he did not pick up any other Births, either. + 16 Oct.1857

md. / 00 Juergen LUHMANN, who died 13.jan.1740. Christian Friedrich son of Juergen Luhmann. Christian Friedrich died 8 Feb. 1757.

Note : Now is the perfect time to remind you the sisters had this brother Luhmann, Johann Christoph geb. 15.12.1814 - Estate Manager at Ventschau. + died 27.July.1873.oo md 15.Mai.1859 to a widow Meier, or Meyer, Anna Dorothea Elisabeth of Sueschendorf. Maybe he married last of the children. But I do not see the marriage date for the sister who married the BARTEL of Eichdorf. I don't believe the Friederich Burmester found anything on that couple.


Note : The name CARSTEN(S) occurs with marriage of one or our Behrens to Carstens in Walmsburg.
