Vorläufig sind von diesem Hof keine älteren Nachrichten zu finden, erst ab 30-jährigem Krieg findet man noch Aufzeichnungen.

Auf dem Hof folgte nun der älteste Sohn Hans Heinrich ROSSEBORG, * 23.9.1688, er heiratete Dorothea KOOPMANN, geb. 9.4.1689 in Oldendorf. Die Ehe blieb kinderlos und Hans Heinrich ROSSEBORG starb ebenfalls sehr früh am 3.1.1713. [CHILDLESS MARRIAGE]
Die Witwe DOROTHEA KOOPMANN heiratete 1714 wieder und zwar

TOENNIES SCHLICHT aus Tosterglope (KA 58/18). Kinder:

2. * 24.10.1716 Dorothea Margareta SCHLICHT,

Kurz nach diesem Kind verstarb Frau Dorothea KOOPMANN am 20.4.1731.
Am 4.6.1732 meldete Tönnies SCHLICHT ein weiteres Kind Christian Joachim ??? zur Taufe an, nach den damaligen Gepflogenheiten dürfte es von seiner[ 2.] FRAU Anna Eleonore stammen, die aber auch kurz darauf am 16.8.1732 starb, das Kind starb am 8.9.1732.
Seine 3. Ehe schloß Tönnies SCHLICHT mit Maria Ilsabe Hövermann, Tochter des Hans Heinrich HOEVERMANN. aus Walmsburg, im Jahre 1736.

1749 heiratete der Anerbe Jürgen Friedrich SCHLICHT, *29.4.1718, Anna Dorothea BROCKMANN aus Harmstorf.
Jürgen Friedrich SCHLICHT starb bereits am 13.4.1754. Die Hofübergabe sollte erst später erfolgen, kam aber doch schon sehr früh, weil Vater Tönnies SCHLICHT am 9.3.1751
im Alter von 64 Jahren starb.

Were continuing on  with the Meyer,  Ahrens Family Tree  History Mini Series.- Second Marriage


Yesterday I published the post on Catharine Dorothea Ahrens the second wife with Juergen Friedrich Meyer [geb 1814] To save space and time I will say that all their births  were at Röthen and  they were all baptized at Nahrendorf.  Above is a  copy of the document of the Meyer / Ahrens  Family History tree  from the Nahrendorf church that you can actually read.  I am not sure why it was printed out so faint. So, My son came to my rescue and separated the pages into smaller parts and most of all, he  made them so we could read  them. Today I 'm just interested in the Gevattern or Taufzeugen for each child. Eventually more comments about the person will happen.

I always get tickled pink when I get new lists of Gevattern  or god parents for  my individuals and this time the names ring familiar.    Are you  ready to get all pink and tingly?   So here goes.

That's all of the church record about her for the time being. I  want to post her children soon. 

However your not off Scott free yet. There are  still small details  to be discussed.  I  wonder if you noticed the small changes in her name. They usually have that  first name of three names  that they don't really use. But we were only given two.   Sometimes she was Katharine and other times labeled Catharine and Catharina and the 'C' and  'K '  letter changed from time to time. I tried to give exactly what I saw in the  church record.
You may have noticed in the marriage document of the trauregister she was  formally Katharine Dorothea Ahrens and so her mother was Katharine Dorothea Elisabeth  too. Later when it mentioned her baptism and her death she was Catharina just as her mother was Catharina. In regards to the mother they always included her third in the line of  names -  Elisabeth. 

It's interesting too that Catharina  is in the names of the  Godmothers  or Godmutter.  Notice the intermix of the name Magdalena and Margaretha.

If I am trapping  you here, I might as well make it good, so here's the other  important link.  Eventually I'll help you with that. Up at the left side of the page 72 from Heinrich Borstelmann's book about the hofs of Mucklingen you will see HalbHof 5.  Down on the line of the year 1815 we find the Eh. zw. which is the marriage of her parents.  [I suppose it goes with out saying all the references to Seil in Breese that we can do without now.] Without church proof we see more of their family history. Something I can't get into right now.

In the last post before last I wrote about an article I found on-line which mentioned Ventschau of the area Tosterglope. then I clarified our Bergmann connection. So Today, I should follow through with more on Those of the Schenk/ Ahrens ad Michel families from there.

Eventually, rather than send you off to some page, which I will need a password for, I will simply give the information as a chart.

In the mean time please enjoy the work of Gloria Hoerschelmann. She actually visited in Germany and spoke to remaining family. She has designated trees
Petesch, Schultz, Schoop, Schroeder trees at ancestry.com. Others have same and more. However, some of hers contain more of Ahrens, Michels or Schroeder than others. Now she has combined the works of Our Mark Kuhlman who graciously provided so much information for us in pages further back, and my information I put in about Mae Meyer a descendant of J.H. Friedrich Meyer. But that does not reflect in the attachments you would find at ancestry with at her tree attachments, which I share here. That work was so superbly done by Verl Matthews [side photo] with absolutely great work continued with Matthews tree and the Nahnsen family tree.


As I do this big undertaking of giving you information, I will give you the source - of the genealogists who did the research and my information that I have added on.




So now go ahead and browse starting with the first part SCHOOP family coming from Seedorf, which she says is a third district of Dahlenburg.

Even though it is a place by Dahlenburg, you may see the family attending the Nahrendorf church shown above. Remember Nahrendorf church inclueded many small villages of the area and is connected with the Dahlenburg church. From time to time, there will be mention of Nuedlitz where in fact my Seil and Korn worked. Nieperfitz, and Muecklingen where several families besides Henry Seil and his sister were from.

As I have said many times, we cannot forget the GROTE connections in those areas tying into this family! Trust me they are there. Obviously, if we see the SCHROEDER we know SAUCKE, WOLTERS, BUSCH, DAETZ. If there is AHRENS and GROTE, then we have NAEFKE.
Voila! The early colonists to Farnhamville.!!!

Oh what a bunch of tangled threads in a web it seems to be. But I will help further as I point out some details, but maybe it should wait until the next time. A chart of some kind is coming soon.

Fabulous Fantastic Friday

Dominoes are falling. There is no stopping them. I couldn't help myself. I was browsing due to the aid of someone with information about Millman or Moehlmann and my Mary Ahrens. He thought too that maybe Hillman or even Heleman was mistaken for Moleman Mollman, or Millman. What bothered me about his information was the Mary Ahrens that he had was born in the 1830's. I was looking for a younger age since, she is suppose to be a sister- in- law to my Juergen Friedrich Meyer born 1814 at Neetzendorf and his wife born 1818. But as I have said over and over, maybe he remarried. I had not thought it to be a younger woman with a younger sister! ??

I couldn't stop looking and it payed off. I know I did not get much housework done today. I can't emphasize enough the use of ancestry.de At first I was ticked because so many nice ones were private.
I shall have to take a little time to prepare the Schoop tree information. I am not sure how much I have shared here or at Oldendorf/Nahrendorf blogspot before. I know I have constantly talked of Seil, Ahrens and Schroeder. And I did share the passenger list of the families from Muecklingen. This is the tree that I found and it does lead to Harry Michels, Louis Michels. These are important because they are those that Fred Meyer or Fritz Meyer was in contact with at Tete Des Morts, Jackson county Iowa. He married Mary Dor. Schenk there at Maquoketa She came from Rieckens, Ahrens, and Michels tree. Not only that but one of our Mae Meyer married into the Louis and Harry Michels family. I have to double check the dates. A Meier is mentioned.
I have contacted this person. I just wish I could see her whole tree and not just bits. I shall continue to try.

Psst : Interesting is that the name Schope, Schoop was at Neetze and by Radenbeck area as well as Nahrendorf too. I am going to look up the Bob ad Carol Townsend, since they had the name in their tree with connections to Nahrendorf. Virginia Bannister comes to mind as well as Muchmow name ?? tree.

Heins was mentioned in a church document and was a god parent.
"Heinrich Wilhelm HEINS" ist sicherlich der Bruder der
Kindesmutter. Seine Taufe habe ich im Taufregister Nahrendorf nicht
gefunden. Er wird wie seine Schwester Maria Dorothea Heins in Kreutzen
geboren sein. /
Heinrich Wilhelm HEINS" is surely the brother of the
child nut/mother. I did not find its baptism in the baptismal
register Nahrendorf. It will be born like his sister
Maria Dorothea HEINS in Kreutzen. [I added in the Heins name for Maria]

Original translation.
Horn "is in former times noble property between Dahlenburg and
sea-village (see plant). "Roethen" is a Foersterei with some houses
in the proximity of old village. "Parochi" is the old name for
in-ends Pfarrbezirk, a church municipality. "Heinrich
Wilhelm
Heins" is surely the brother of the child nut/mother. I did not
find its baptism in the baptismal register Nahrendorf. It will be
born like his sister Maria Dorothea in Kreutzen. The correct name
of the "Annna Augusts Elise Meyer" is after the baptismal register
Nahrendorf "Anna Louise Augusts Meyer". Below its baptizing entry
and those its twin sister Louise Maria Dorothea. Excerpt from the

Note: Wilhelm's and Maria's daughter, Anna MEYER, later in Iowa married John BENNETT. They lived in Joliet Illinois and later moved to Long Island in New York.

Surname SATURDAY with Naerfke and Ahrens

I am back on track with more on NAEFKE and AHRENS on this Surname Saturday.
I just have to warn you you may get a little frustration today. I will try my best to avoid it. Just sometimes, after I write my post I hit the space bar I then find my previous written sentences deleted. So sometimes, just sometimes your jipped my wonderful work. You get a substitute instead. But that is not the frustration I mean.

I just love to check my email and find another letter from Mark Kuhlman. He has given me some more information on the Naefke - Ahrens family. I just love getting information about Ahrens, Naefke famiies from Oldendorf and Nahrendorf.
For years I have been in a ' frustration' wanting more Information on these families. Now with dates, etc, I have more possibilities opened up.

I suppose anyone else would do a happy dance with seeing such a wonderful article. But I am very comfy on this love couch with a huge ottoman. The picture seems very familiar, but I can't say for sure, if I have seen it before or should I say where I have seen it before.
He said this about it after I asked him where it came from.

"Those two articles came from my aunt Laura Naefke Henrichsen from Ft.Dodge Iowa. Her daughter had them hidden away in her old stuff. I just happened to ask her some info and was telling her some of the stuff I was having a hard time finding and she called me back and she had found those articles."

I am giving it to you, but I am not sure if it will enlarge enough for you to read. I am going to try and if it does not work I have a couple of alternatives to try. I am just not that Handy around computer technology.

If I were to get to print it in laser, which would blow it up and maybe not distort it. More than likely, I won't know if it is going to enlarge large enough to read. WE google bloggers often use Picasa. Any pictures we publish are held there and then usually open to public. So once my pics are published, it is easy for me to go and edit it again.

A failure. But then I have already given you the info in the article. All that is new to you is the picture for Naefke and the Henry Schroeder information. The information is exactly the same as that you see at my other posting of the information removed from the book Calhoun County, Iowa History 1854- 1987. The best method for the enlargement would be to save this and then click prview. In that way, it does allow you to expand the sizes for your reading comfort. At the large size, I found the blurr hard to bare.

I can get the information Of Henry Schroeder though.
I will need to post this information up at Oldendorf und Nahendorf blog as well. You can find it listed at the right column. Some of my postings there has been delayed due to already mentioned reasons. [ smile] But it will be released soon.

Blogging more on Ahrens and Nafke trom my favorite place - FARNHAMVILLE, Ia.
In this case I am sharing information contributed by Mark Kuhlman from the book of Calhoun county History or Biography book. [ More on this book. ] I know the book is available for browsing online. Since I lost many of my favorites bookmarks , I can say, that probably the book is through Google books or Heritage Quest. And quite Possibly through Ancestry. In the past I have looked up many things. I just haven't viewed currently. Many things are still in boxes and I should really get to everything soon before Spring gets here. He sent a scan of pages of Information. I will Use these for your viewing pleasure. Be sure to click on the picture in hopes of a larger image, if your having problems seeing the words.


Note: I hope you are aware that one can purchase books through a used book sites online and also there are people who sell cd's and books at ebay aimed for us Genealogists.

Once I dig my book out of the box, I can look up something for you if you don't locate one. [ Wink]

My Comments, speculations on this information.
Marks Grandfather Ahrens - Born and died at Bleckede
Bleckede could be a city or it could be the area called Bleckede. As you know the Luhmann/ Schmidt came from Kleinburg, which is much Bleckede area. So research on the family church may vary from that of Nahrendorf. I am not even sure if the Dahlenburg archives would contain their information.

Until Mark pointed out that there was two separate immigrations, I had not been aware of this. I only had made note of those who said they were from Oldendorf.

Notice Dorethea spelling of her name. Their has been a few spelling errors on the census involving this family. But that spelling has been consistent.

Could the Henrichson family possibly be connected to those who live in Oregon that connect to some I have researched briefly?.

The first threshers of the area. I also have a picture of the Luhmanns during Threshing season. The Picture was scanned from the book on the Farnhamville village centennial.
Which reminds me of my glass negatives from Irma Martin. I clearly remember that she asked my grandfather, if he knew anyone on them. It was this big old threshing machine belted to a Harley Davidson Motorcycle.???!!

Note, the local heritage center resources which were at a library held many scrapbooks of newspaper clippings of the local residents. Sorry, but I forget if it was Greene or Calhoun.

Kuhlman family from Lippe is related to AHREN, NAEFKE, GROTE, and SEIL

I was contacted by others interested in my information on Ahrens, Seil, Grote, Naefke surnames in the Calhoun county Iowa area. So this blog topic is aimed towards those interested in the Ahrens, Naefke, Seil, Nahnsen, Meyer families. If your going down that path one would not be able to eventually ignore the surnames of Schroeder, Saucke, Carstensen..

As you read this blog, you might want to check out this other blog about people from Oldendorf. Especially for the names Grote, and Seil. I still do not know exactly what their village was in area of Oldendorf. If I had stopped blabbering long enough on the telephone during our conversation, I might have learned more.
Right Mark [Kuhlman relative]. The Grote and Ahren families who attended the St. Peters church near Farnhamville church location is said to come from Oldendorf. If not from Oldendorf, I wonder what little village did they really come from.

In this case, Grote, Ahrens, Naefke, and William Meyer, Adel Grote Carstensen. That will lead you to this blog again to the various pages of information kindly provided by Christi Chance. Her extended family leading to Jungck and on the other side of the family going into Lau, Joachim, Joachimsen and the extended vast family of Carstensen from Clinton county, Iowa. [ Most of that is not yet covered here]Some names are just not labeled or tagged, and you will find them by reading the blog. Sorry.

So family we are definately related to Elmer Kuhlman family of Lewisville area. The Elmer Kuhlman family. With more correspondence I will learn much much more, which I can share with you. [After I hung up the phone with further thought, I now suspect that I saw something of it at Ancestry trees or public trees, but forgot about it.] I suppose I had intended to spend a little time on it later and I still do.

One more answer to the riddle. I sure hope I can remember those details that he told me.

Note: Mark told me that Seil use to own a gas station in Lewisville. That was news to me. I know our families owned all of them at one time. As well as one at the ten mile corner. I thought William had one in Lewisville too, until he moved to Fairmont and ran the one under the Poppe name.

Note: Mark also told me that the Grote family lived only a year or so in Iowa and then went to Arkansas. I knew that Adelia had lived with Naefke there. I wonder if she married there? Did Naefke move there as well. See this is maybe why Herman and Annie gave some thought to living in Arkansas. In one letter from Annie Bennett there was a statement she made to Herman. She said, I see you decided you did not want to pick rocks in Arkansas. Meaning living and farming there and picking rocks. Instead he chose to live at Sunnyslope farm at Minnesota.

Note: I must ask him [Mark] if he knows where William lived in Fairmont. Was it North Park near the Hamlins.

Note: Were Grote from Gutting or Goeddingen? And where were Naefke actually from In Hannover?


I really have a few things to hunt up for him. I had better get busy.


*A personal Note to Mark Kuhlman:
If you read this or other pages- your really have to read about the Luhmann family of Eichdorf. Because there was another Seil family involved which was told to me by those who married with the Bluhm family.
You can correspond online with the Nahrendorf church, I can make it easier for you by hunting up the web address for you from my older emails. Your correspondence only confirms that I have to ask Herr Bock about the various Seils that I have found in records. Including my Anna Seils gr. great grandparents. I will find a linkage for you.

*Not only that, but Grotes did show in the Uelzen book at Hohenfier that Heinrich Porth wrote of in his book on Himbergen OFB. There is a Christoph Seil in it.
Also, I would like to mention that some of my Heins and Seil lived at Breese and that is where some other Grotes lived. Including Graf von Grote. One of those descendents has contacted me. !!!

* Third thing to note. On our Passenger list of the Marsala ship, was there a Puffahrt or Putfahrt? I thought I had seen it. Is anything known of that gentleman. He was in the area of Dannenberg which could be any of those villages by Oldendorf which belonged to Dannenberg. Also there were Puffahrt living at the Hitzacker villages.
*A man by name Puffahrt is researching many specific surnames in our area of Oldendorf, Hitzacker area of Elbe river area and Dannenberg area. He can be found on the Kingdom of Hannover mailing list courtesy of rootsweb. What is particularily wonderful is the information he throws back to the list on surnames of the region that we might find interesting.

* Fourth. I should have said Luhmann moved to Ottertail, Minnesota. The other Meta Luhmann was at the area I told you. Quast, Dirk, Banit and others from Dahlenburg Jonas tree.

* I made an error. Dorothy Seil of the Henry Dohrman tree settled Joliet Illinois and then later to Iowa with Farmhamville connections. Tasler, Vogel Tree. [Roper related to Tasler]

* I need to find out if any of the Grote and Naefke and Ahrens lived in Illinois prior or after the others went to Iowa. Although ship passage said Iowa. Who did they know who had gone before them to there?
* Fifth. I have had a particular interest in Ahrens, since I have also seen the name spelled Arens.
1. There were some Arens involved with Heins. Otte, Brookmann and various other surnames at Bergen Celle.[ Some mentioned before.......Drewes, Bockelman, Mueller,Drogemueller, Meyerhof, Hohls,Holes, Dagefoerde, etc.
11. There were Ahrens in the Genzel tree of Oldendorf. Hof 30. And the Sueschendorf hof tree which were surnames of Reinecke, Schroeder, Meyer, Schulz, Michel, or Michael and Ros[s]eburg. There were immigrations of this family tree to America.
